Chosing paint colours for your re-decoration projects can be difficult, knowing that mistakes are going to be costly and frustrating. Of course, there is no simple way to simulate the effect of being surrounded day and night by ‘Caribian Sky’ blue or ‘Minted Lemon’ green, but being able to experiment with different colour schemes before you purchase paint, will definitely help you to develop ideas and to make your final choice with more confidence.
In this renovation project the room was too small to get a good view in one camera shot. To achieve the overall impression of looking in from the doorway I created an image from several photos. The bed, with favourite bedding, was photographed in it’s original location and digitally added to the mockup of the new bedroom, along with some wood panelling which was planned for added warmth along the outside walls.
Armed with this mockup we were able to explore and experiment with everyone’s wildest ideas, and then fine-tune* what emerged as a possible consensus, before getting to work.
*Colours on your computer screen or in a print-out may not match exactly how paint will appear on any given surface. A mockup should not replace the use of a paint vendor’s colour samples (especially when you aim to match existing furnishings) and possibly painted test squares on the actual wall.
