The Ottawa Paramedic Service established its mentorship program to allow new hires to work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced medic for the first few weeks, rather than being ‘thrown in at the deep end’.
Known as the M-Platoon (in line with the regular shift-blocks, named A-Platoon, B-Platoon, etc.) the initiative has gained wide-spread recognition, so when I was approached to create a logo, I wanted to find a design that reflects both, the high medical standards to which Ottawa Paramedic Services are committed, and the nurturing environment in which new staff are trained and mentored.
