I love being creative – as in creating stuff and trying new ideas.
From sewing to soldering – I’m just curious to try things out
Professional Background
After apprenticing as mechanic for agricultural machines, and studying theoretical linguistics for a looong time, I started getting interested in computers … Straddling the space between design and development I have worked in web and multimedia development, user experience and interaction design for over 15 years – always wearing more than one hat and often specifically facilitating the collaboration of design and development teams. I decided to leave the corporate cubicles behind and set up my own business – using my Flash and ActionScript 3 skills to focus on app development for the Blackberry phone and tablet (remember the Playbook? …), until Adobe AIR support was dropped and the Blackberry ecosystem pretty much vanished, which is when I realized that I needed to learn coding properly!
In 2016 I was fortunate to be selected for the first cohort of Dev Degree students at Shopify, an intense work-integrated learning program, accompanying my studies for a Computer Science degree at Carleton University.
Now in my career as a developer I’m producing less colourful stuff for this portfolio, but still enjoying to experiment and learn new skills …
